I've knitted up a couple of soakers using Alice's pattern and it's dead easy. I've only just started knitting and in fact it was my first project. (Much more inspiring than trying to knit a square.) All you need is some wool, 4mm needles and 3.25 mm needles for the ribbing. (I don't have smaller needles for the ribbing, but it still worked out ok I just added in a drawstring.) Great fit on my DD too.
