I purchased the Picky Pants pattern from the Little Turtle Knits website. The pattern is acessed via a PDF that includes lots of pictures, appendices and lots of instructions. There are a lot of options with the pattern; it can be longies, shorties or capri pants and the legs can be finished with anything from cable to frills.
I knitted this pattern once, making longies. The pattern is designed to be knit in thick (10ply) wool which is not all that readily available. I knitted it in 8ply New Zealand wool company merino and using 4mm needles. There is no advice in the pattern for how to convert to different wool and the result is that the pattern becomes much more complicated if you are not using the suggested ply. I found that the longies that I knitted were a strange size, with legs a bit short and body a bit long as a result of my conversions being a bit out! However I really liked the crotch grafting, as it gives a good shape.
All up, it is a great and versatile pattern, but I'd advise knitting in the suggested wool especially if you are a beginner knitter.
