I am a knitter for way back, but have never found a soaker pattern that fit, particularly around the legs, so I end up using sewn wool covers.
So the first one I knitted I am quite happy with. I knitted it according to the instructions to try to do a good review. I knitted the medium size and it is a good fit over a trim day fitted. (She is 12months and I guess she is a medium - smallish for size with out of proportion thighs (but not thunder thighs) and a narrow waist). This size wouldn't fit over a night nappy, particularly with extra boosting, although the long rise would help with that. The pattern doesn't allow for a tie or elastic, and I reckon that would help a lot. The rise is very good, and there is a good amount of ribbing at the top, so that if the rise is too great, you could roll it over. I shortened the leg cuffs, and made them 1.5inches where the pattern suggests 2. Otherwise it would be a very long leg.
All-in-all, I like this pattern. It is knitted in the round and seems like a size up would fit well over a fat nappy (like a tots or terry square). I am going to make some more in day and night weights, so I will see how they stack up!
